Center for Food Safety | Regenerating Paradise Video Series

Regenerating Paradise is a video series featuring local farm projects paving the way towards regenerative agriculture in Hawaiʻi. The featured organizations include HIP Agriculture, MAʻO Organic Farms, Waipa Foundation, and Community Compost Movement.

These initiatives are setting an example for how a circular, regenerative, and local food system can simultaneously support the economy, strengthen cultural heritage, and improve the overall health of a community.

THE PROCESS

Storyboard.

Wakeful State provided me the initial video drafts of this series. There are sections within the scripts that needed visualization, such as the process of composting, farm to school concept, and diabetes statistics. Based on the script, I helped storyboard the animation portions to explain each of these concept.

Visual Style.

We want to create characters and sceneries that are relatable and true to the Hawaiian culture. After several design revisions and feedback from the producers, we developed this earthy color palette and visual style for the characters and tropical sceneries.

The video series was premiered in May 2020 and is available on Soil Solution's website.
